W.R.I.T.E. & Uptown Music Theatre

write - Copy

This past summer I had the pleasure of bringing W.R.I.T.E. to 13 wonderful young ladies of the Uptown Music Theatre. We met once a week for six weeks as the girls wrote, edited and shared their stories. This is the third time I’ve been able to work with students in the W.R.I.T.E. program but this is the first time that the program has been fully realized. When I started this idea, the whole point of it was to help kids publish and sell their own books so that they would receive the same sense of accomplishment that I did after I wrote and published The Little Who Dat, Who Didn’t. Finally, with the help of some amazing online artists, we did just that. Stay tuned! We will be setting up book signings around New Orleans and hopefully we’ll be able to get them some media attention as well. Great job girls! You can order their books from Amazon.com below.
