Hello, I’m Veronica
The sky is not completely dark at night. Were the sky absolutely dark, one would not be able to see the silhouette of an object against the sky.

Check me out at NOLA Summer Jam this Saturday!
Thanks to the blessing from Mr. Lawrence Parker I’ll be selling and signing my book this Saturday at Summer Jam. I’m excited to be apart of this event because it shows how far we’ve come since Katrina. How far all of us have come. We are on our way to doing great things in New Orleans and in the world. I remember when everyone was just starting out. This is a beautiful thing. Let’s continue to support each other and help each other grow. We’ve gotta remember exactly how we feel now, so that in the future when we have the power and the money to make even greater things happen we will do so with compassion and a sense of community! See you all there Saturday and be sure to bring an extra 12 bucks for the kids!!!!Happy Summer Jam People!!!!!!

Oh the places I’ll go…..
It’s funny how this book has taken me places I’ve never thought about going and has me doing things I never thought about doing. I’ve met writers, poets, musicians, entrepreneurs, amazing kids and I’ve even had the opportunity to share the company of two of the men who inspired this book; Darren Sharper & Drew Brees! It’s been fun. I’ve read at schools, I’ve signed books, I’ve given away way more books than I can actually afford and I’ve had a great time doing it all. As of now, I’m busy getting the books into stores all over New Orleans. In July, you’ll find my book in most books stores and a few other places as well. You can catch me at the various marketplaces around town and at festivals all over Louisiana. Later this week I’ll post a schedule of all the places I’ll be showcasing my book.. So until next time, thanks again for your continued support and if you have any little Who Dats in your family be sure to get em’ a book!

St. Augustine: Paddles, Presidents & Power (purple power)
Purple Power!! That’s exactly what I see when I look at this photo. Now I have to admit; I graduated from St. Aug in 2004 and I haven’t done my due diligence in the form of going back to the school, talking to the kids and learning how I can help make that school and community better. With the recent disagreements over paddles and presidents there is one thing that stands out above it all and that is PURPLE POWER! I always knew St. Aug produced successful, young black men like myself but I never realized how much power we actually have. We have so many people involved in so many things that its ridiculous. Even just the young men I know and went to school with are enough to make positive change in this city and in our communities; IF we all come together. We need to get this city and our community back in order and who better to do it than the Purple Knights!!! We have doctors, lawyers, radio host, authors, entrepreneurs, CEO’s, presidents, chairmen, athletes, millionaires, farmers, politicians, dentists, pastors, preachers, GM’s, dancers, musicians, artists, photographers, engineers and everything else you can imagine. AND IT’S TIME WE DO SOMETHING.We’ll talk more about this as our journey continues but for now I’d like to do a Purple Knight Marketplace once a month in the yard at St. Aug. This would be a great way to bring businesses, fresh food, music and unity to a school, group and community of people who need it the most. It’s just one idea but its something that I think would have an exponential impact on the school and that area. So let’s talk about it.
Knights!!!! WHERE Y’ @?

The Harrison Avenue Marketplace
So although there was rain and heat, all at the same time I still managed to have a great time, meet some new people and sell quite a few books. This was my first market experience and it was just as much fun as I expected. I met a guy named Jack Saux who wrote a book about a little boy in Gentilly, reconnected with my man Toby from Woody’s Fish Tacos and had a great time with the people who made me who I am; my family. I can’t wait until my next festival/market experience; I wouldn’t mind doing THIS everyday at all! Check below for a few pics. (The two cuties are my niece and cousin, they led the sales charge the entire night!!)
