Thorn In My Horn made today’s front page of the Community Section of The Advocate. The photographer took this picture of me while reading at Pleasure Zion Baptist Summer Camp a few weeks ago. I loved having coffee with the writer Margaret Quilter and I think she did a great job writing the article. Check it out.

(7/13) Book Signing at Maple Street Book Shop
Join me this Saturday, July 13th at 11:30 pm for my first book signing at Maple Street Book Shop. Maple Street has been selling my books since I started writing and I’m happy to finally host an event at their store. Essence Book Signing Fail! Thank you/Sorry!
I want to apologize to anyone who came out to my book signing at the Essence Music Festival and was unable to make it into the Essence Bookstore. The Essence Empowerment Series, located directly behind the bookstore, was filled to capacity and consequently the entire area that the bookstore was in was completely roped off. The only people who were allowed into the bookstore were people coming in and out of the Essence Empowerment series. However, Essence realized that they made a mistake and moved the bookstore into Hall B with all of the other exhibitions. The only problem was that it took an hour to do so and that hour was the hour I was supposed to be signing books. So once again, I apologize for the inconvenience if you tried to come out and hopefully I will be able to participate next year. Thank you to all of you who sent texts and tweeted and tried to get in, I’m sorry and I hope you still had a good time.The moral of the story is stuff happens and you don’t always get what you want…. Get over it and keep working! In other news, this Saturday, July 13th at 11:30pm I’ll be signing my new book, Thorn in My Horn, at Maple Street Book Shop. Bring the kids!

Alex McConduit Hosts Book Signing at Essence Music Festival
I’m happy to announce that I have been added to the Official Essence Music Festival Bookstore. My books will be available throughout the entire weekend in the Convention Center and I’ll be hosting a book signing Sunday, July 7th from 1pm to 2pm. All three of my books, including Thorn in My Horn, will be on sale and I’ll sign as many books as you can buy! I’ll also have some bookmarks and information about W.R.I.T.E. and the other projects that I’m involved in. I feel honored to be included this year and I hope I’m able to sign books at Essence for years to come!
